Tiny Plates

When the recent new project at work started, I struggled with the demands of work and studying. It was very stressful.. After the third day of the project, I was worried and asked myself if I had made the right choice to work and study.

On the Friday evening of the first week, Blueberry and I went to Sanpoutei for drinks. Drinking helps me to unwind, especially after a long week at work. (Unfortunately, it’s not helpful if I need to study afterwards.. :p)

We had appetizers (or small plates) with sake.

Tiny plates of appetizers paired with sake. Clockwise from round plate- Bamboo shoot dressed with spicy miso, aburi chashu salad, moro-miso cucumber

I love the food served here.. the ingredients used are fresh, and the flavours of the dishes compliment each other.. I doubt one can ever go wrong with any combinations/orders. 🙂

.. however, there is only one complain I’ve of this place. I wished the food portion of of the small plates could be bigger?? I’m a fast eater, and it’s painful to force myself to slow down when there are delicious food infront of me.. ah, the agony!

I think tiny plates is a more fitting as a name. Lol. 🙂

Despite these tiny plates, Sanpoutei will still be my favorite place in town. ❤

Hello there

Hi there.

I’m still alive..

Haven’t been blogging, cos the past few months were busy.

.. busy working, adjusting and learning. I’ve signed up for part-time studies too.

Work, rest, study, rest… I feel guilty of not spending enough time with my little guy.

I’ve been wanting to blog, but haven’t found time to do so.

“Tomorrow,” I said.

Before I knew it, 3 months have passed! Yikes!

Aw man. 😦

Dear Readers,

I hope you’re doing well.. I miss blogging together with everyone, and hope to join everyone on this journey again.

Sending my love from sunny Singapore.

Xoxoxo

From fresh to dried..

I love fresh flowers.

Flowers are beautiful to behold and they help to uplift the mood.. I’m love receiving them, but dread the day when they start dying.

When our fresh cut roses started showing signs of over-maturing, I thought it would be a pity to toss them away.

Instead of letting them die, I decided to preserve these flowers..

From rosebuds to full bloomed roses. I wish these roses could stay in their glorious full bloomed form. How nice it would be, if flowers could avoid the inevitable of withering. 🙂

Tied with a ribbon and hung upside down, the flowers await the transition with patience..

Hang in there, my little flowers. Change is coming!

Jambu air..

Enjoying nice pieces of chilled fruit. This is my father's favorite fruit, Jambu. When I was a kid, I didn't know how to appreciate it. It was until I started working, I started to like this fruit. I guess my taste buds changed over the years. :) The crunchy and juicy texture and the slightly hint of sweetness is a winner.

Hello Everyone!

Blueberry and I have been busy.. Last week, I took a break (from work and blogging) to recuperate.

It was nice to take time off to vegetate. I spent the last week in bed, watching anime to my heart’s content.

After all the resting, I’m reluctant to return to reality.. haha! I guess I need another break for my post break. 🙂

Sword and shield..

We live in a fast pace world, where things are ever evolving.

The To-Do list never gets completed.. and the items on the list gets more each day.

Occasionally, it feels like a rollercoaster ride with countless things being hurled at me.. some moments, it feels like I’m a gladiator fighting in arena; trying to save my life.

Instead of wielding a sword and shield, I have my pen and notebook.

My trusty pen and notebook.. my other "brain".

With my pen and notebook, lets kick butt and conquer the world!

Red roses are love..

Roses are red, violets are blue. Sugar is sweet, so are you.

Sugar is sweet, so are you.

I have a special love for red roses… My heart melts every time I receive them.

These delicate flowers remind me of the love Blueberry and I have for each other.. And all the special moments we celebrated together.

A single stalk, a bouquet of three, half a dozen or a dozen.. Red roses are the perfect gift for me for any occasion. 🙂

Chasing sunrise..

This week’s photo challenge (early bird theme) proves not to be an easy feat.. It took 3 mornings, before a satisfactory picture came along.

On Sunday morning, I woke up to the sounds of thunder. The skies were grey with flashes of lightning.. Extremely terrified of lightning, I buried myself under the covers and tried to sleep..

The next morning (Monday), I woke up early and headed out. After taking several shots, I realised photography for early morning requires specific camera settings.. (Auto mode doesn’t work!) The lack of skills and preparation showed in the images. Feeling discouraged, I decided to stop for breakfast.

That evening, I did some research on blue hour photography.. Blueberry gave me some helpful tips too.

I woke up this morning and tried again. Thankfully, the weather was perfect and I managed to get a picture of the morning light. Yay!

6.50am.. as the sun rises, the magical blue hour progresses into the golden hour. From the 34th floor of the flat we stayed in, I could see luxurious residential estates next to our neighbourhood. In this densely populated country, land is scarce, thus causing landed property to be extremely expensive.

All the efforts put in was worth it.. After doing the photo challenge, I discovered a new-found love for the blue hour.

Thank you, WordPress for such a memorable challenge.. and thank you, Blueberry for guiding me through this challenge. 🙂

While I was sleeping..

A new day starts at the break of dawn.

Old folks gather for exercise at the fitness corner.. Children dress in school uniform make their way to school.. Domestic helpers stroll towards the wet markets for groceries.. Many others in office attire commute to their workplaces.

Some stop for breakfast at the local coffeeshops and hawker centres.. some eaten breakfast at home.

The roads buzz with activity from cars, motorbikes, public buses.. Everyone seems to be in a rush.

Away from the hustle and bustle, in a flat somewhere in the neighbourhood.. In a warm bed, tucked under the covers.. I was far away in dreamland, oblivious of the ongoing activity in the neighbourhood.

So much happened, while I was sleeping.

After I started working from home, I’ve caught up on beauty sleep. Most of the time, I try to wake up at 9.30am (the bed is too comfortable.. haha).. By the time I get out for breakfast, the rush hour has long gone.

It can be a nightmare to take the trains during rush hour.. I’m thankful I don’t have to commute to work anymore. 🙂

The world behind my window..

They’re telling me
It’s beautiful
I believe them
But will I ever know
The world behind my wall

I never gave much notice to that frosted window in my room.. We would open it slightly for ventilation, but not fully because kitty would slip out.

Today, I decided to explore the world behind it.

(It is a hazy day with an unhealthy reading for PM2.5.. thankfully, the visibility is satisfactory).

I opened the window.. and saw a pretty park in a distance.

It is a rooftop garden/park on a multi-storey carpark. Surprise? The last picture was cropped from this picture.

Outside the window is the air-con ledge. It's an allocated space to place air-conditioner condensing units. If repairs are needed, the handyman has to wriggle through this window. My cat is quite curious of the condensing unit.. he tried sneaking out for an inspection. I had to stop him, before curiosity kills the cat.

So much stories to share beyond this window. I think I will miss it when we move.

Time to shut the window.. Hope the haze goes away soon!
