Rough seas..

weekbeforegettingthekeys

“You can always ask for help,” they said.

“Help with strings attached?” I glanced at the life ring.

I declined the offer and swam towards the shore.

The sea was rougher than expected..

With much difficulty, I made it to the shore..

.. but I wasn’t the same anymore.

A walk on the roof garden..

It’s been a hazy week.

All the staying indoors have made me a little stir crazy.

I made a short trip outside to find something for the weekly photo prompt.. It was the roof garden near home, that I found my inspiration.

Abundance of greenery makes a tranquil place to rest.

A small area from the edge of the building towards the pedestrian walkway was used for the plants. It was like a planter box, but in a bigger scale.

Flowers, shrubs and trees grew on the high garden plot, creating a safe boundary for park visitors. This also prevents people from going too near to the edge of the building.

What a clever idea it is.. Now, if only there are barbecue pits here. 🙂

Haze 跟 Dust

The haze is back with a vengeance.

PSI (Pollutant Standards Index) levels reached very unhealthy levels.. and hazardous on several occasions.

Last Thursday evening, Ministry of Education announced all primary and secondary schools to close, so kids could stay indoors from the haze. I’m glad with the government’s decision.. As most classrooms are not air-conditioned, kids would be breathing in poor air quality.

Luckily (or unfortunately for the kids), air quality improved over the weekend. Many kids were disappointed, when they heard school was reopening on Monday.

☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁

I’m getting irritated by the smog.. I miss the clear blue skies and the smell of fresh air! The news reported the haze might last til November. Urgh, nooo!

Just a hazy day.. Sending my love from Singapore to everyone!

I hope the haze will go away earlier that expected!

In the meantime, I will have to hide behind my mask and sunglasses.

Every cat’s dream..

Yesterday, we had a meeting with the contractor in our future new home.

As I entered the living room, I saw a gigantic roll of corrugated cardboard.

Corrugated cardboard heaven for cats! :D The cardboard was almost as tall as me!

I think every cat would love to play with this! I can imagine Kitty shredding this roll of corrugated cardboard into million of pieces. 🙂

I have never seen such a big roll of cardboard in my life.. and it certainly intrigued my curiosity.

Just tear it. No cutting needed.

Even in monotone, textures and lines are beautiful.

From this angle, this picture reminds me of Kitty's Turbo Cat Toy Scratcher.

From different angles, textures and lines created pretty patterns. Who would expect the humble corrugated cardboard to be interesting? 🙂

Nibbles

Today, Blueberry and I visited Joan Bowen Cafe.

Located along Jalan Wangi, this social enterprise plans to empower youths and children with special needs. It’s heart warming to see kids (with special needs) are given a chance to be independent.

We had calamari and Nespresso coffee..

This calamari was well seasoned and crunchy, it was so yummy! We finished the portion in minutes. I wish we had more. ;)

It was a pleasant experience.

The only problem is… the calamari was too delicious. I miss it already! 😦

When we first met.. Blueberry, Kitty and Doggie.

Bring me back to the times we first met.

For time flies and my memory fails me.

If it is not too much to ask.. I would love to revisit and relive those fond moments.

Although things will change along with time, some precious memories will always stay.

Ps: I don’t want to be a fly on the wall.. Can I be a butterfly instead?

Steak for Lunch

I was craving for steak last Friday, Blueberry and I decided have lunch at Pepper Lunch.

Sizzle it your way! Striploin on a hot plate.

Striploin on a hot plate.

Our lunch was served on a patented iron plate.. this plate is cooks the food and remains hot (at 80c), as we chomp down our lunch.

One has to be careful not to the touch the iron plate. There was once I removed the “paper ring” and accidentally rested my pinkie on the edge of the iron plate.. *OUCH!*

That painful experience was soon forgotten, when I took a bite of the juicy, succulent steak.

It obviously didn’t stop me from going back for more. 🙂

Late Lunch on the Weekend

Late lunch at a local mamak shop.

The menu is filled with countless items.. Prata, naan, chapati, curry, seafood.. etc. You’ll be overwhelmed with choices!

After browsing the menu, we decided to stick to the usual.

Butter and Garlic Naan... with Butter Chicken, Palak Paneer and Mutton Masala.

Happy man with his food.. :)

Someone seems happy.. hee.

Maybe I’ll order something different next time, when we return for more.. 🙂

Getting my groove back..

day 5 after surgery-01

Doggie is constantly in pain and he’s not going to get better anytime soon. Blueberry and I, together with the rest of the family are trying to make him feel better.

Taking care of a dying loved one is physically, mentally and emotionally challenging.. I didn’t expect I’ll be going through this journey 2 times (first my mother-in-law, later Doggie) in this year. 😦

Life is a box of chocolates, you never know what you’ll get.

After 2 weeks break, it’s time for me to return to blogging again.. I hope I’ll be able to share what happened to Doggie in further detail.. must get round to it.

Ps: Thanks Shelie, for the encouragement… and Blueberry for the unwavering support and love during this period. 🙂

Yes?

just us

If you had to come up with one question, the answer to which would determine whether or not you could be friends with a person you’ve just met, what would it be? What would the right answer be?

 Can I be honest?

Although I meet people in my life, there is much difficulty in finding a friend..

Friend.. not acquaintance.

I know we live in an imperfect, broken world.. everyone (including myself) is imperfect.

Even though life isn’t perfect, I believe a friendship should be sincere and genuine.

Does anybody believe in that.. or am I alone?

I’m a bad judge when it come to a person’s character.. and to make it worse, I trust people too easily.

After all the heartaches.. I still believe in Friendship.

Am I naive to still believe in that?

If only I could ask this question (to the person I meet), it could have save time and tears..

“Would you be willing to have a sincere and genuine friendship with me, for richer or poorer.. in health and sickness?”

Sigh.. If only I could ask that question in real life.

Out from the daydreams and back to reality.

PS: Wait.. there is one person… Blueberry! 😀 Kitty’s joining the team too.. he doesn’t have a choice, cos he needs me to feed him and clear the litter. It’s okie, I’m fine with that. 🙂
